Does the Voyager require software to work?
The Voyager does not require you to install anything to start typing. Just plug it in and go! All of the advanced firmware features such as dual-function keys, layers, and macros will just work. That's because they're all saved on the keyboard itself, in firmware.
Changing your Voyager firmware (modifying your layout) may require some setup, depending on your operating system:
- If you are using Windows, you will need to install Keymapp.
- If you are using Linux, you will need to set up udev rules.
- If you are on macOS, you do not need to make any changes.
You can perform this setup on one device, save your layout to your keyboard (we call this "flashing"), then take your keyboard to another device, and your layout will be the same — it'll just keep working.
